Yoga, peace and home

This Sunday 21st June is the International Day of Yoga.

Now, of course, not everyone does yoga but this special day in the global calendar is about more than just the practice of yoga.

Firstly, there is an actual UN Resolution passed in 2014, that notes:

"...the importance of individuals and populations making healthier choices and following lifestyle patterns that foster good health, underscoring the fact that global health is a long-term development objective that requires closer international cooperation through the exchange of best practices aimed at building better individual lifestyles devoid of excesses of all kinds, and that yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being."

Secondly, the word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, to find connections, integrations, to join the dots between the body and human experience and the world around us, our environment and our home.

So this week is all about how we make better peace with ourselves and our homes. How we find connections and integrations between who we are and how we live: what our home and environment looks like and feels like; how it nurtures and sustains us, how it works for us and improves us.

If you do yoga, you know the benefits. You know what connection between body and environment means; the search for inner-peace and positive health and wellbeing, surrounding yourself with love and positive energy, immersing yourself in balance and calm.

This week is all about being mindful at home, surrounding yourself with beauty, warmth, luxury and light: four values we care about most at Chateau de Glass.
